Education

Right now, we are leading in the wrong ways: 45th in teacher pay, 43rd in per student funding and 10th highest teacher shortage in the nation.

As a parent of two children in public school and a third starting soon, I strongly support public education. I believe that investing in our schools and increasing funding is crucial for the success of our children and our communities. I also believe that our teachers deserve fair compensation for their hard work and dedication.

I strongly oppose vouchers as they divert resources away from public schools and can lead to further inequality in our education system.

Healthcare

Tennessee's healthcare statistics are terrifying. Our state is a leader in medical , 2nd in rural hospital closures, top 5 in maternal mortality rates, and 6th highest for the rate of diabetes.

As a nurse and woman, I have a unique perspective on the healthcare issues facing our community. I support expanding Medicaid to ensure that everyone has access to the care they need. I've witnessed the strain caused devastation caused by people not having access to care. I also support protecting IVF and contraception, as well as gender-affirming care. Medical decisions should be between patients and doctors, not lawmakers.

Gun Safety

Gun safety is a crucial issue that needs to be addressed in Tennessee. Guns are the leading cause of death for kids and teens and the state has the 12th highest rate of gun deaths in the country.

As a responsible gun owner, Claire supports the right to own firearms but supports gun safety laws that will save lives. Safe storage laws, ERPO laws that separate firearms from people who are a danger to themselves or others, and a 24-hour waiting period when purchasing a gun will reduce gun deaths and promote responsible gun ownership.
